SCOPE
A light renovation of an Art Deco colonial black and white house in Singapore. As a leased property, we needed to modernise and uplift, whilst refraining from major renovation. The majority of the work involved renovating the tired bathrooms, alongside updating the kitchen. The remaining interiors were preserved in their existing condition.
DESIGN
Built in an Art Deco style in the early 1900s, the house has a colonial feel which we wanted to retain and enhance through the soft furnishings. This was the project’s main focus, and the soft furnishings were instrumental in injecting the home with colour and personality. Also required was a kitchen overhaul, but rather than replacing all of the carpentry, we retained the carcass, and replaced the doors. We overlaid the backsplash tiles, replaced the sink and tap, and transformed the kitchen with the minimal amount of work possible.
THE CLIENT
A family with two children, a young daughter and a teenage boy.
