SCOPE
A light renovation of an Art Deco colonial black & white house in Singapore. As a leased property, the challenge was to modernise and uplift without undertaking major renovation. The majority of the works were renovating the very old and dated bathrooms, along with updating the kitchen. The rest of the interior of the house was kept as-is.
DESIGN
The house has a colonial feel and was built in the Art Deco style in the early 1900s, we wanted to retain this feeling and embraced it with the soft furnishings. The kitchen needed updating, but rather than replace all of the carpentry we just replaced the doors retaining the carcass. We overlaid the backsplash tiles and replaced the sink and tap – all in all transforming the kitchen for the minimal amount of work possible. The main focus was the soft furnishings for the house, where the client wanted to inject some colour and personality.
